Jason Momoa Picture

Jason Momoa ("Dune", "Game of Thrones") will star in, write and executive produce the upcoming Apple drama series "Chief of War". This is the second Apple series led by Momoa, alongside the post-apocalyptic show "See", which has been renewed for a third season.

The series follows the story of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view. Apple has given the show an eight-episode order.

Momoa and Thomas Pa'a Sibbett will co-write the script, and will both serve as executive producers. Doug Jung will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Justin Chon ("Blue Bayou", "Pachinko") is in talks to direct the first two episodes.

This is Momoa's first writing project for television. He previously co-wrote, directed and starred in the 2014 film "Road to Paloma". He also co-wrote the script for the upcoming film "The Last Manhunt" alongside Pa'a Sibbett. Pa'a Sibbett also co-wrote the 2018 film "Braven" in which Momoa starred.
