Naomi Watts to Star in FEUD Season 2 at FX

Two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts ("21 Grams", "The Impossible") will star in the second season of the FX anthology series "Feud" created by Ryan Murphy. Gus Van Sant is onboard to direct all eight episodes. Tony and Pulitzer-nominated Jon Robin Baitz will write and serve as showrunner. Watts will also serve as an executive producer.

The second season will be based on the book "Capote's Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era" by Laurence Leamer. Watts will play famed socialite Barbara "Babe" Paley. Paley was one of several members of New York high society who was a friend of Capote's until he published excerpts of his unfinished novel "Answered Prayers" with the excerpts serving as a tell-all about the city's elite.

The first season of "Feud" aired back in 2017 and chronicled the rivalry between Joan Crawford, played by Jessica Lange, and Bette Davis, played by Susan Sarandon, while filming "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?".

The second season was originally meant to focus on Charles, Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales, but the concept was eventually scrapped. FX executives have since said they were open to making more of the anthology, but a protracted search for the right material and Murphy moving his overall deal from 20th TV to Netflix in 2018 put the show on the back burner.
