Oscar-nominated actress Sharon Stone ("Basic Instinct", "Casino") is in final talks to play the villain in the upcoming DCEU movie "Blue Beetle" directed by Angel Manuel Soto ("Charm City Kings") from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer ("Miss Bala").
Xolo Mariduen stars in the lead role as Jamie Reyes aka Blue Beetle, a vigilante who has a scarab grafted onto his spine that gives him tremendous powers and the ability to emit blue energy. Stone will play Victoria Kord, a new character created for the film.
The cast also includes Raoul Max Trujillo ("Mayans M.C.") as Carapax the Indestructible Man, Bruna Marquezine as Penny, the female lead and love interest, Belissa Escobedo as Jamie's younger sister, Milagros, George Lopez, Adrianna Barraza, and Harvey Guillen.
"Blue Beetle" will open in theaters on August 18, 2023. The film was originally developed for HBO Max.
