"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" is the No. 1 movie at the box-office in its second weekend. The film raked in $61 million, dropping 67% from its impressive opening weekend. The drop is somewhat steeper compared to "Eternals" (61%) and "Shang-Chi" (52%), but also similar to "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (67%). The first Doctor Strange movie, however, only dropped 49% in its second weekend. Regardless, the movie is doing well overall, already grossing $291.8 million domestically and another $396.2 million overseas.
The animated film "The Bad Guys" is holding in second place with $6.8 million, which brings its domestic tally to $66.2 million.
"Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is still in third place with $4.5 million. Its domestic total has reached $175.7 million, while overseas it has raked in a total of $179.5 million.
The Blumhouse horror film "Firestarter" opened in fourth place with $3.8 million from 3,412 theaters. The film was released day-and-date, simultaneously in theaters and on Peacock. Its saving grace is that it only cost $12 million to produce. It received a harsh reception from both critics (12% on Rotten Tomatoes) and audiences ("C-" CinemaScore).
"Everything Everywhere All at Once" rounds out the Top 5 with $3.3 million. The film dropped just 6.4%. Its domestic box-office has reached $47.1 million.
