Emmy-nominated actor Matt Bomer ("White Collar", "The Normal Heart") is set to star in and executive produce Showtime's "Fellow Travelers", a series based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Mallon

The series is described as a political thriller and epic love story that unfolds in the era of McCarthyism and resolves in the age of AIDS. It focuses on the intertwined lives and volatile romance of two very different men, Hawkins "Hawk" Fuller (Bomer) and Tim Kovacs. The series will follow Hawkins and Tim for 40 years through key American periods such as the Vietnam War protests, the disco years of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, and how they each change.

The adaptation is penned by Academy Award nominated writer Ron Nyswaner ("Philadelphia"). Michael Grandage ("The Prince of Pennsylvania", "Ray Donovan") will direct and executive produce.

The series begins shooting in Toronto in July.
