Kevin Bacon is the latest addition to the Netflix thriller "Leave the World Behind" that hails from "Mr. Robot" creator Sam Esmail.
Based on Rumaan Alam's novel, the film follows a family vacation on Long Island that is interrupted by two strangers bearing news of a mysterious blackout. As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world.
Esmail adapted the screenplay. The cast also includes Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Farrah Mackenzie and Myha'la Herrold.
Producing are Sam Esmail and Chad Hamilton via their Esmail Corp, along with Julia Roberts, Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill producing through Red Om Films banner. Higher Ground's Tonia Davis is executive producing alongside Alam, Danny Stillman and Esmail Corp's Nick Krishnamurthy.
Bacon is also set to star alongside Travis Fimmel and Colson Baker in the action thriller "One Way", and Legendary's reboot of "The Toxic Avenger".
