Jason Statham is set to star in the upcoming action film "Levon's Trade" from Black Bear and BlockFilm, the new production label of former Miramax boss Bill Block. The film is directed by David Ayer ("Suicide Squad", "End of Watch") from a script by Sylvester Stallone, which he adapted from the novel of the same name by comic author Chuck Dixon.
The book is the first of eleven in the popular Levon Cade thriller series. Stallone's Balboa Productions had previously developed the project as a TV series. In the movie, Levon Cade (Statham) leaves his "profession" behind him to go 'straight' and work in construction. He wants to live a simple life and be a good father to his daughter. But when his boss’s teenage daughter Jenny vanishes, he’s called upon to re-employ the skills that made him a legendary figure in the shadowy world of black ops. His hunt for the missing college student takes him deep into the heart of a sinister criminal conspiracy creating a chain reaction that will threaten his new way of life.
Filming is expected to begin in March 2024 in London. David Ayer and Chris Long ("The Beekeeper") will produce for Cedar Park Entertainment, alongside Statham for Punch Palace Productions, Stallone for Balboa Productions, John Friedberg ("Ferrari") for Black Bear and Bill Block (David Gordon Green's "Halloween") for BlockFilm. Statham was attached to the project pre-strike.
