The horror sequel "The Nun II" held in first place with $8.4 million in its third frame. That's 42% down from the previous weekend. After 17 days in theaters, the film has grossed $69.2 million in North Ameica, and another $135 million overseas. The worldwide total now stands at $204.2 million.
The R-rated sequel "Expend4bles" opened with $8.3 million from 3,518 theaters. That's 47% less than the debut of the third film ($15.8 million in 2014), and 76% less than the original ($34.8 million in 2010). The film's production budget is estimated at around $100 million, which means it needs to gross around $200 million to break even. "A Haunting in Venice" finished in third place with $6.3 million in its sophomore frame, dropping 56%. The film has now grossed $25.3 million domestically, and another $46.2 million overseas, which brings the worldwide tally to $71.6 million.
In fourth place we find "The Equalizer 3" with $4.7 million, dropping just 35% in its fourth weekend. After 24 days in theaters, the domestic total has reached $81.2 million, while overseas it raked in $67.4 million. The global total has reached $148.7 million.
The Top 5 is rounded out by "Barbie", now in its tenth week. The film grossed $3.2 million over the weekend, dropping just 16%, which is the film's lowest weekend decline, so far. The domestic total has reached $630.4 million after 66 days in theaters, while overseas it adds $797 million for a worldwide total of $1.42 billion.
