David Corenswet ("The Politician", "Hollywood", "Pearl") and Rachel Brosnahan ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", "House of Cards") have been cast as Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the upcoming DC movie "Superman: Legacy", which will be directed by James Gunn ("Guardians of the Galaxy") from his own script.
Gunn and DC Studios partner Peter Safran are working hard to reboot the DC Extended Universe, and this movie will be the first step in that direction. The film has been described as a workplace origin story. Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney were also in contention to play Superman/Clark Kent and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor were in the running for Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane.
Casting is also underway for Lex Luthor, Jimmy Olsen and the superheroes The Authority, who are expected to debut in "Legacy" before getting their own film. The film is being produced by Safran who recently said the following about the project:
"It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned."."Superman: Legacy" will open in theaters on July 11, 2025. Filming is expected to begin early next year.
