BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD To Be Directed By Andy Muschietti

Batman The Brave And The Bold Movie

"The Flash" and "It" series helmer Andy Muschietti has signed on to direct Warner Bros' new Batman movie, titled "The Brave and the Bold". The project is based on the comic series authored by Grant Morrison, and is one of several new DC Studios titles mapped out by James Gunn and Peter Safran earlier this year. Gunn has called Morrison's work "exceptionally influential" on the DC Universe.

The comics imagine a "Bat family", where Bruce Wayne's biological son Damian serves as Robin to his dad's Batman. The project does not currently have a screenwriter attached. The film will exist separately from Robert Pattinson's "The Batman" series.

Warner Bros Pictures and Warner Bros Television Group/Max have inked separate multi-year first-look deals with filmmaker Andy Muschietti and producer-sister Barbara Muschietti through their Double Dream banner. The Muschiettis are currently working on the "It" prequel series "Welcome to Derry" for HBO.

The Muschiettis' Warner Bros motion picture deal runs for three years, under which they will develop and produce tentpoles with the potential to direct. Under their multi-year deal with Warner Bros Television Group and Warner Bros Discovery's MAX, the duo will continue to develop new television series for multiple platforms, including MAX and all external outlets.

Gunn and Safran's first phase of projects is called "Gods and Monsters" and will feature both standalone films and series. One of these projects is the Superman film written by Gunn, now officially titled "Superman: Legacy". Other projects include a Wonder Woman prequel series and a Green Lantern mystery series. Lesser known DC characters, including Booster Gold and Swamp Thing, will also be introduced.
