Oscar Isaac will play the titular hero, who has been described as "a mercenary who has numerous alter egos", while the identity of Hawke's character is uknown at this time. In the comics, Moon Knight's archnemesis was Bushman, a fellow mercenary who turned on the hero.
The cast also includes May Calamawy ("Ramy"). Mohamed Diab ("Clash") and "Synchronic" filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will direct. The show is aiming for a March production start in Budapest.
Hawke recently finished work on Robert Eggers' Viking revenge saga "The Northman".
