Patty Jenkins to Direct STAR WARS Movie ROGUE SQUADRON

As announced by Disney during their Investor conference, "Wonder Woman" helmer Patty Jenkins is set to direct the next "Star Wars" movie "Rogue Squadron".

The titular squad of elite Rebel X-Wing fighter pilots were featured in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, as well the acclaimed video game of the same name. The film is expected to be released on Christmas Day 2023.

According to Kathleen Kennedy, the movie will usher in a new era for the franchise and "introduce a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing high-speed thrill ride. The legend of Rogue Squadron has been long beloved by fans and will move us into a future era of the galaxy."

This is the first feature film in the franchise to be directed by a woman, and it joins Taika Waititi's "Star Wars" movie, which the studio is currently developing, and an unknown project that is being developed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
