Alicia Vikander to Star in HBO Limited Series IRMA VEP

Alicia Vikander to Star in HBO Limited Series IRMA VEP
Oscar winner Alicia Vikander ("The Danish Girl", "Tomb Raider") has signed on to star in HBO's upcoming limited series "Irma Vep". The film is loosely based on French filmmaker Olivier Assayas' 1996 movie of the same name. Assayas is on board to write, direct and executive produce.

The plot focuses on Mira (Vikander), an American movie star disillusioned by her career and a recent breakup, who comes to France to star as Irma Vep in a remake of the French silent film classic "Les Vampires". Set against the backdrop of a lurid crime thriller, Mira struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge.

The miniseries hails from A24, who also collaborated with HBO on the hit series "Euphoria". That show's creator Sam Levinson will executive produce alongside Assayas, Vikander, Sylvie Barthet, Ashley Levinson, Kevin Turen and Stuart Manashil.

Vikander is also developing a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's "Dial M for Murder" with MGM/UA Television.
