Oscar winner Julia Roberts is headed back to television for the upcoming limited series "The Last Thing He Told Me" based on Laura Dave's novel of the same name, which will be published in hardcover by Simon & Schuster on May 4.
The series is created by Laura Dave and co-created by Oscar winner Josh Singer ("Spotlight", "The West Wing"). Dave will adapt alongside Singer.
Roberts is set to star in and executive-produce the miniseries, which follows a woman (Roberts) who forms an unexpected relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter while searching for the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are also executive producing.
The book was optioned prior to its release and brought to Roberts. Apple landed the project for its streaming platform, outbidding several other outlets for the rights.
Roberts made her TV debut with Amazon's "Homecoming", for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. She is also attached to the Watergate scandal drama "Gaslit" from Sam Esmail ("Homecoming", Mr. Robot").
