THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA Sequel in the Works at Disney

The Devil Wears Prada Sequel In The Works At Disney

Disney and 20th Century Studios are in early development on a sequel to the 2006 hit movie "The Devil Wears Prada". The original film's screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna ("Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", "Your Place or Mine") is in talks to return for the new installment. It's not yet clear who from the original cast will return. Producer Wendy Finerman is returning to oversee the project

The plot will reportedly follow Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and faces off against Blunt's character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.

Based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel, "The Devil Wears Prada" was a box-office hit, grossing $326.7 million worldwide. Meryl Streep won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy, and an Academy Award nomination for her role as the nightmare boss based on Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The costume design by Patricia Field was also nominated for an Oscar.

A stage musical version of the film, starring Vanessa Williams as Miranda, begins previews in advance of an October opening on London's West End. The production features an original score by Elton John, direction and choreography by three-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub and book by Kate Wetherhead.
