Richard Gere Joins Showtime Spy Thriller Series THE AGENCY

Richard Gere Joins Showtime Spy Thriller Series THE AGENCY
Richard Gere boards his first major TV series with Showtime's "The Agency", a remake of the French political drama "The Bureau". The Paramount+ with Showtime series will also star Michael Fassbender and Jeffrey Wright.

In the English-language version, Fassbender stars as Martian, described as a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage. Gere will star as Bosko, the London Station Chief with a storied past after serving as an 8-year undercover agent.

This will mark one of the only regular television roles of Gere's career. He received an Emmy nomination for his work in the TV movie "And the Band Played On" in 1993 and starred in the British miniseries "MotherFatherSon" in 2019 on BBC Two.

"The Agency" is currently in production in London. Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are writers and executive producers. Joe Wright ("Atonement", "Darkest Hour") is an executive producer and director for the first two episodes.

Executive producers include Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz for Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios; David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari of 101 Studios; George Clooney and Grant Heslov via Smokehouse Pictures; Alex Berger for The Originals Productions; and Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton for Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America.
