Disney and Pixar's "Inside Out 2" opened with $154.2 million from 4,440 theaters, beating "Dune: Part Two" ($82.5 million) as the biggest debut of 2024. Overseas the film added a massive $140 million for a global debut of $294.2 million. The sequel is now Pixar's highest global animated opening of all-time, and the second-highest domestic animated debut behind "The Incredibles 2" ($182.7 million). The film's production budget is estimated at around $200 million, which means it needs to cross $400 million in order to turn a profit. The film's reception has been overwhelmingly positive from both critics (91% positive on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("A" CinemaScore).

The sequel "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" dropped to second place in its sophomore frame and grossed $33.7 million, down 40.3% from its opening weekend. The film's domestic total has now reached $113 million, while overseas it raked in another $102.4 million, which brings the film's worldwide cume to $215.4 million.

"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is back in business, climbing from #5 last week to #2, and grossed $5.5 million over the weekend, a 2% gain compared to last week. The film has now grossed $158.1 million in North America, and $217 million from foreign markets. That adds up to $375.2 million after 39 days in theaters.

"The Garfield Movie" fell from second place to fourth with $4.7 million in its fourth weekend. This brings the domestic total to $78.2 million, while overseas it grossed $139.2 million, so far. That's $217.4 million worldwide.

The Top 5 is rounded out by John Krasinski's family-friendly fantasy film "IF" with $3.6 million. After 32 days in theaters, the film has grossed a total of $101 million domestically and $72.6 million internationally, which adds up to $173.6 million worldwide.
