Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to Star in Joe Carnahan's Crime Thriller RIP

Matt Damon And Ben Affleck Join Joe Carnahans Crime Thriller Rip

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have signed on to star in the upcoming thriller "RIP" from writer/director Joe Carnahan ("Narc", "The Grey", "Smokin' Aces").

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film has been described as a crime thriller. Filming is expected to begin this fall. The project is expected to find a distributor soon as interest has been drawn from theatrical and streaming buyers.

Affleck and Damon's will produce through their company Artists Equity, which was launched in 2022 and also produced the 2023 film "Air". Artists Equity recently struck a deal with Lionsgate to distribute the drama "Small Things Like These", which stars Cillian Murphy and premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. Affleck and Damon founded the company on the principle of offering profit participation to more of the cast and crew, including below-the-line talent.

The package came together quickly in recent weeks. Affleck and Damon were looking for a new project under the company banner as Affleck was finishing up production on his sequel to "The Accountant". The two tried to do another crime thriller, "Animals" eariler this year, but scheduling with "The Accountant 2" couldn't be worked out and the project was paused.
