"The Hunger Games" prequel once again finished in the top spot, grossing $28.8 million over the 3-day weekend, a soft 35% decline from its opening weekend, and is estimated to add around $42 million over the 5-day frame. This brings the domestic cume to $98.3 million. Overseas it adds another $56.2 million.
"Napoleon" opened in second place with $20.4 million from 3,500 theaters. The 5-day is estimated at around $32.5 million. With another $46.3 million from international markets, the film's global debut now stands at $78.8 million. Those might not be big numbers for a movie that cost $200 million to produce, but it's also not major concern for Apple, who is more interested in helping boost its streaming revenue. Both the critical (61% on Rotten Tomatoes) and audience reception (B- CinemaScore) has been mostly mixed.
Disney's "Wish" made its debut in third place with $19.5 million from 3,900 theaters, and is project to gross around $31.7 million over the extended frame. Overseas it grossed around $17.3 million for a worldwide total of $49 million. The movie's production budget is estimated at around $200 million. The film received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics (50% on Rotten Tomatoes), but moviegoers mostly liked it ("A-" CinemaScore).
"Trolls Band Together" finished in fourth place with $17.5 million, dropping 41.6% from its opening weekend. The film has now grossed a total of $64.4 million in North America, and another $81.3 million overseas. That's $145.8 million worldwide.
The Top 5 is rounded out by Eli Roth's horror film "Thanksgiving", which grossed $7.2 million, a soft 29.4% decline from its opening weekend. The film has grossed a total of $24.1 million domestically and another $4.9 million overseas.
