Nicholas Hoult is set to star in James Gunn's upcoming DC reboot "Superman: Legacy". This will be the inaugural feature film in DC Studios' relaunch of the DC universe in film and television, which Gunn and fellow co-chief Peter Safran announced in January.
The cast also includes David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Hoult was said to be in the running for Superman himself, but writer/director Gunn picked him to play villain Lex Luthor.
Gunn has also announced via social media that María Gabriela de Faría was recently cast as another villain, the Engineer. Other casting announcements include Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The July 11, 2025 release schedule remains unchanged, because and Gunn and his production team kept working during the strike.
Hoult can next be seen in Clint Eastwood's upcoming legal thriller "Juror #2", and voices Jon in the "Garfield" animated movie. He also stars in Robert Eggers' "Nosferatu".
