"Man on Fire" co-stars Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning are set to reunite for the third installment in "The Equalizer" film series. The third film will once again be directed by Antoine Fuqua for Sony Pictures.
The plot is being kept under wraps. The script is penned by Richard Wenk, who also wrote the first two films, as well as the 2021 film "The Protege", and "The Expendables 2".
"The Equalizer" film series is based on the 1980s TV series of the same name co-created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. The show starred Edward Woodward in the lead role. A reboot show premiered in 2021 starring Queen Latifah.
The first film grossed over $194 million worldwide, while the sequel raked in $190 million worldwide. "The Equalizer 3" will be released in theaters on September 1, 2023.
Producers include Todd Black for Escape Artists, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Washington.
