Jessie Buckley & Riz Ahmed To Star In Sci-Fi Romance FINGERNAILS

Jessie Buckley Riz Ahmed Sci Fi Romance Fingernails

Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley ("The Lost Daughter") and Oscar winner Riz Ahmed ("Sound of Metal", "The Long Goodbye") have signed on to star in the upcoming sci-fi romance "Fingernails", which marks the English language debut feature of Greek director Christos Nikou ("Apples"). Nikou co-wrote the film with Sam Steiner and Stavros Raptis.

The film is set in a surreal future in which married couples can undergo a test to see if they are truly in love. Buckley plays Anna, a woman who undergoes the test and doesn't believe her positive result is accurate, so she starts working in a love institute as an assitant to a mysterious and dedicated instructor named Trevor, played by Ahmed.

FilmNation is launching sales at the Cannes market next week and is co-repping U.S. rights with CAA Media Finance and WME Independent. Cate Blanchett's Dirty Films is producing alongside Arrival outfit FilmNation Entertainment, which is also financing.

Jerome Duboz is executive producing. Carey Mulligan was previously attached to the project but is no longer aboard.

Buckley is next set to star in Alex Garland's "Men", Rebecca Lenkiewicz's directorial debut "Hot Milk", and MGM's "Women Talking" opposite Frances McDormand, Rooney Mara and Claire Foy.
