"Modern Family" star Ariel Winter is set to star in NBC's new multi-camera comedy series "Hungry". Demi Lovato was previously attached to lead the series, but dropped out due to scheduling reasons just as the pilot was about to start production.
NBC decided to quickly recast the part in order to stay on schedule with the rest of the cast in place. Production will resume this week, starting with a table read on Tuesday. Lovato will remain on board as an executive producer.
The series follows a group of friends who belong to a food-issues group helping one another as they look for love, success and the perfect thing in the fridge that's going to make it all better. Suzanne Martin writes and executive produces the show, and James Burrows will direct.
The cast also includes Valerie Bertinelli, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Ryan McPartlin, Alex Brightman and Ashley D. Kelley. Universal Television, Hazy Mills and SB Projects are the studios behind the show.
Winter is currently filming the thriller "Don't Log Off", and also just wrapped the dramedy "Pools". She is also set to star in the upcoming crime drama "Crimelands".
