Universal's horror sequel "Halloween Kills" scored a solid debut over the weekend, but Ridley Scott's historical epic "The Last Duel" proved to be a disappointment. Overall, the weekend box-office surpassed $100 million for a third consecutive week, for the first time in the past 18 months.

"Halloween Kills" opened with $50.4 million from 3,705 theaters. It's certainly a step down from its predecessor's $76.2 million debut in 2018, but still a solid result considering the film's $20 million budget. The film also raked in another $5.5 million overseas.
The new James Bond installment "No Time to Die" finished in second place with $24.3 million, a 56% drop from its opening weekend. The film's domestic gross has reached $99.5 million, while overseas it has grossed $348.3 million. "No Time to Die" will open in China on October 29, and it's expected to boost its earnings considerably.
Sony's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" landed at #3 and grossed $16.5 million over the weekend, dropping 48%. The domestic tally is now at $168.1 million, while overseas it has earned $115.6 million.
The animated sequel "The Addams Family 2" can be found at #4 with $7.2 million in its third weekend. The film has reached $42.3 million domestically and $16.2 million overseas.
The Top 5 is rounded out by the week's other wide release, the historical epic "The Last Duel". The R-rated film raked in a disappointing $4.8 million from 3,065 theaters, and only $4.2 million internationally. With production costs estimated at around $100 million, the film can be seen as a total box-office failure at this point.
