Warner Bros in Negotiations for Harry Potter TV Series at HBO Max

Harry Potter Tv Series Hbo Max

Warner Bros. Discovery is currently in talks to produce a "Harry Potter" television series that would be directly based on J.K. Rowling's best-selling book series. Each season will be based on one of the seven books, which would allow the studio to stretch the show over many years.

Rowling is said to maintain a degree of creative involvement with the series, but she will not serve as primary creator or showrunner. Negotiations are currently in a preliminary state. Warner Bros. Discovery is aiming to stream the show on HBO Max, which will soon merge with Discovery+ and will be given a new name.

News of the developing deal comes as Warner Bros. Discovery prepares to host an April 12 presentation for investors and the general public. The event will preview the integration of HBO Max and Discovery+ as well as the company's upcoming slate of streaming content. Warner Bros has been developing the idea of a series since January 2021, well before the 2022 acquisition by Discovery.

Each of Rowling's "Harry Potter" books have been adapted by Warner Bros. into the blockbuster film series starring Daniel Radcliffe, which ran between 2001 and 2011, and grossed over $7.7 billion worldwide. The franchise also spawned theme park attractions, the spinoff film series "Fantastic Beasts", the hit Broadway production "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", and the hit video game "Hogwarts Legacy."
