"Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" didn't break any records but still managed to dominate the competition in its opening weekend, even stealing the top spot from last week's champ "John Wick: Chapter 4".

"Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" topped the charts with $38.5 million from 3,855 theaters. The film also raked in another $33 million from overseas markets. The film, however, cost $150 million to produce, which means it will require at least $300 million worldwide to break even. A $71 million start isn't very impressive, but next week will reveal more about the film's profitability. "D&D" was enjoyed both by critics (91% on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("A-" CinemaScore).
"John Wick: Chapter 4" finished its second weekend in second place, dropping a steep 61.8% and raking in $28.2 million. That's the worst sophomore decline in the entire franchise. The first film dropped 45%, the second 47%, and the third 57%. But, the film is still quite profitable, raking in $122.8 million domestically in 10 days, and another $122 million overseas.
The faith-based movie "His Only Son" opened in third place with $5.5 million from 1,920 theaters, ahead of pre-release projections of a $3 million debut. The film received a positive reception from audiences ("A" CinemaSCore).
In fourth place we find the horror sequel "Scream VI' with $5.3 million in its fourth week. The film dropped 36% from last week. It has reached a domestic total of $98.2 million, and is close to surpassing the first two films in the series.
The Top 5 is rounded out by "Creed III" with $5 million, down 38.9% from the previous frame. The film has grossed a total of $148.5 milion in North America and $110 million overseas. That's $258.5 million worldwide.
