In the battle of the sequels, "Scream VI" knocked out "Creed III" to dominate the box-office this weekend, but the champ is still in pretty good shape. The sci-fi action thriller "65" also opened this week and performed well enough. The sports comedy "Champions" starring Woody Harrelson, however, couldn't find its audience.

"Scream VI" opened in the top spot with $44.5 million from 3,675 theaters, a record for the franchise, after last year's reboot/sequel "Scream" opened with $30 million. The previous record was held by the 2000 threequel "Scream 3" ($34.7 million). The sixth installment also added $22.6 million from overseas markets. "Scream VI" was well-received by critics (75% from critics), but the audience reception was lukewarm ("B+" CinemaScore).
"Creed III" finished in second place with $27.1 million. The film dropped 53.4% in its sophomore frame, which is steeper than the second weekend drop of the previous two films. The film's domestic total has reached $101.3 million, while overseas it added another $78 million. That's a worldwide total of $179.3 million.
Sony's "65" opened in third place with $12.3 million from 3,405 theaters. The film performed slightly better thank projected, and added another $7.2 million from overseas markets. It's not a stellar performance, but the film only cost $45 million to produce. "65" was mauled by critics (36% on Rotten Tomatoes), and moviegoers mostly hated it ("C+" CinemaScore).
Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" dropped to fourth place with $7 million. The decline this week is maybe not so steep (45.4%), but the film is definitely not the hit Marvel was hoping for. The film has grossed a total of $197.9 million domestically and another $249.6 million internationally, which adds up to a global total of $447.5 million.
The Top 5 is rounded out by "Cocaine Bear" with $6.2 million, down a steep 44.3% from the previous weekend. The film has raked in $51.6 million in North America, and another $14 million overseas.
