Billy Bob Thornton will star as the lead of the upcoming Paramount+ drama series "Land Man" created by Taylor Sheridan ("Sicario", "Yellowstone").
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, the series is based on the popular podcast "Boomtown" and will explore the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. It has been described as being an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it's reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.
Production is expected to begin sometime next year. In the meantime, Sheridan will be tackling new "Yellowstone" spinoffs titled "6666" and "1932", as well as a second season of "1883".
Thornton recently completed production on the action thriller "The Gray Man" directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and starring Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans and Dhanush
