Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz & Shailene Woodley to Star in Michael Mann's FERRARI

Oscar nominee Adam Driver ("House of Gucci"), Oscar winner Penélope Cruz ("Parallel Mothers") and Emmy nominee Shailene Woodley ("Big Little Lies") have joined the cast of Michael Mann's passion project "Ferrari". STX nabbed worldwide rights to the film.

The big-budget biopic, which has been in the works for two decades, will tell the story of racing mogul Enzo Ferrari. Set during the summer of 1957, the film follows ex-racecar driver Ferrari, who is in crisis as bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their tempestuous marriage struggles with the mourning for one son and the acknowledgement of another. He decides to counter his losses by rolling the dice on one race – 1,000 miles across Italy, the iconic Mille Miglia.

Driver is replacing Hugh Jackman in the title role. Cruz will star as Enzo's wife Laura, and Woodley will play mistress Lina Lardi. Mann will direct from a script he co-wrote with Troy Kennedy Martin ("The Italian Job"), based on the book "Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine" by Brock Yates.

Principal photography will take place in Italy this spring. Here's what Mann had to say about the cast:
"Being able to have these wonderfully talented artists, actors Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley, bring to life these unique characters on location in Modena and the Emilia-Romagna is a vision fulfilled.".
