Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Chloe Grace Moretz to star in Jonestown Thriller WHITE NIGHT

Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("Looper", "500 Days of Summer") and Chloe Grace Moretz ("Kick-Ass") have signed on to star in the psychological thriller "White Night", which is based on the true story of Jones' infamous People's Temple cult.

Gordon-Levitt will play the charismatic preacher who in 1974 established "Jonestown", a remote jungle commune in Guyana, South America. On November 18, 1978, Jones commanded his followers to drink poison, resulting in the death of more than 900 people. Dubbed The Jonestown Massacre, the event is one of the largest mass murder-suicides on record. Moretz will star as survivor Deborah Layton.

The film's story focuses on Layton's (Moretz) haunting true story, as she rises through the ranks at Peoples Temple, only to turn on Jones and fight to expose the truth about him to the world before it's too late.

The film is directed by Anne Sewitsky ("A Very British Scandal") from a script by William Wheeler ("The Ghost in the Shell", which is based on Deborah Layton's best-selling memoir "Seductive Poison".

Gordon-Levitt can next be seen as Uber founder Travis Kalanick in the Showtime limited series "Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber". He will also voice the character Jiminy Cricket in Robert Zemeckis' Disney live-action "Pinocchio" remake.
