Dakota Johnson to Play Madame Web in Sony's New SPIDER-MAN Spin-off

Dakota Johnson to Play Madame Web in Sony Universe of Marvel Characters
Dakota Johnson ("Fifty Shades of Grey", "Suspiria") is set to join Sony's latest "Spider-Man" related spin-off. The actor will play Madame Web in the studio's next standalone superhero movie, which will be directed by S.J. Clarkson ("Jessica Jones", "The Defenders") from a script by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless ("Lost in Space", "Morbius").

In the comics, Madame Web is key in the interconnected multiverse, which has already been explored by Sony in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home". Introduced in the 1980, Web often appeared as a side character in the "Spider-Man" comics where she is depicted as a blind, paralyzed elderly woman who has myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune disorder requiring her to connect to a life support system resembling a spider web. According to various reports, due to her psychic sensory powers, she is essentially Sony's "Doctor Strange".

Johnsons can next be seen in Netflix's Jane Austen adaptation "Persuasion". Also, her Sndance film "Cha Cha Real Smooth" was sold to Apple for $15 million after premiering at the festival.
