Jonny Lee Miller Joins THE CROWN as U.K. Prime Minister John Major for Season 5

"Trainspotting" and "Elementary" star Jonny Lee Miller has joined the cast of the Netflix drama series "The Crown". He will play John Major in the fifth season of the acclaimed series. Major's tenure in 10 Downing Street lasted from 1990 to 1997. Gillian Anderson, who starred as Major's prededcessor Margaret Thatcher in the last season, won a Golden Globe for her performance.

The new season will begin shooting next month with a brand new cast that will include Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana.

The fourth season of "The Crown" was released in November 2020, but Season 5 will be released in 2022. Series creator Peter Morgan announced the show would end with Season 6.
