Sophie Turner Joins THE STAIRCASE Limited Series at HBO Max

Sophie Turner Joins THE STAIRCASE Limited Series at HBO Max
"Game of Thrones" alum Sophie Turner has joined the cast of the HBO Max miniseries "The Staircase". The eight-episode series is based on the docuseries of the same name as well as various books and reports about the case of Michael Peterson, who was accused of murdering his wife, Kathleen in 2001.

The cast features Colin Firth as Peterson, Toni Collette as Peterson's wife, Parker Posey as assistant district attorney and prosecutor Freda Black, Juliette Binoche and Rosemarie DeWitt as Kathleen Peterson's sister Candace Zamperini. Turner will play Margaret Ratliff, one of Peterson's adopted daughters who is convinced of her father's innocence.

The series is written and executive produced by showrunners Antonio Campos ("The Devil All the Time") and Maggie Cohn ("American Crime Story"). Campos will direct six of the eight episodes of the show, which is produced by Annapurna Television and HBO Max.

The 2004 French documentary "The Staircase" from director Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, and its follow-ups covered the ensuing court battle that saw all the Peterson family's secrets come to light as Michael fought to prove his innocence and avoid prison.

Turner recently finished work on the thriller "Broken Soldier", and she is also set to voice a character in another HBO Max project titled "The Prince".
