Shailene Woodley Joins Jack Whitehall in the Sci-Fi Comedy ROBOTS

Shailene Woodley Joins Jack Whitehall in the Comedy ROBOTS
Shailene Woodley ("Divergent", "The Fault in Our Stars") has signed on to replace Emma Roberts in the sci-fi comedy "Robots" based on the short story by Robert Sheckley.

The film will be co-directed by "Borat" scribe Anthony Hines, who also penned the adaptation, and Casper Christensen ("Klown"). Jack Whitehall and Woodley star as a womanizer and a gold digger who trick people into relationships with illegal robot doubles of themselves until they unwittingly use the scam on each other. Their robot doubles fall in love and elope, forcing them to team up and hunt them down before the authorities discover their secret.

In an official statement, Hines said:
"At a time when comedies are needed more than ever, I couldn’t be more delighted than to have Shailene and Jack team up to play the leads in this movie.".

Filming is expected to begin this August in New Mexico. Thorsten Schumacher and Jere Hausfater will serve as executive producers.

Woodley is also set to star in the drama "The Fence" opposite Miles Teller, the romantic comedy "No Baggage" and the thriller "Panopticon", which also stars Anthony Mackie.
