Jenna Ortega To Play Wednesday Addams In Tim Burton's Live-Action Spin-Off Series

Jenna Ortega To Play Wednesday Addams In Tim Burton's Live-Action Spin-Off Series
Jenna Ortega ("Yes Day", "Jane the Virgin") has been cast as the lead in Netflix's upcoming Addams Family spinoff series which focuses on the iconic character of Wednesday Addams. The role was previously played by Christina Ricci in the feature films "The Addams Family" (1991) and "Addams Family Values" (1993), and by Lisa Loring in the 1960s TV series.

The show will be directed and executive produced by Tim Burton, and written by "Smallville" creators Al Gough and Miles Millar.

Titled "Wednesday", the eight-episode series has been described as a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

Gough and Millar will also executive produce and serve as showrunners on the series. According to various rumors, Ricci may be considered to star as Addams family matriarch Morticia.

Ortega can next be seen in the drama "The Fallout", and the upcoming "Scream". She is also attached to star in Ti West's horror film "X" alongside Brittany Snow and Mia Goth.
