Aaron Taylor-Johnson To Play Spider-Man Villain Kraven the Hunter in Stand-Alone Movie
"Kick-Ass" and "Godzilla" star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has signed on to play the protagonist in Sony's upcoming comic book movie "Kraven the Hunter". The film will be directed by J.C. Chandor ("Triple Frontier") from a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk.

Kraven is one of Marvel's most iconic and notorious antiheroes, first introduced in 1964 as a Spider-Man villain. Kraven is known for appearing in the classic 1980s storyline "Kraven's Last Hunt" in which he succeeded in defeating Spider-Man, burying him alive and assuming his identity. The character has also tussled with Venom, and he's a founding member of the supervillain group the Sinister Six.

Taylor-Johnson has signed a multi-picture deal to portray the classic character. The film is set for release on January 13, 2023.

Producers include Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. Other Spider-Man spin-offs include "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" which will be released on September 24th, and "Mobius", due out on January 21, 2022.

Taylor-Johnson is also set to star in the upcoming action film "Bullet Train".
