Paddy Considine To Join GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series HOUSE OF THE DRAGON

Paddy Considine To Join GAME OF THRONES Prequel Series HOUSE OF THE DRAGON
British actor Paddy Considine ("Peaky Blinders", "In America") is set to star as King Viserys Targaryen in the upcoming HBO series "House of the Dragon", a prequel to the insanely successful series "Game of Thrones". The 10-episode series co-created by Martin and Ryan Condal ("Colony") has received a straight-to-series order in October 2019.

The series is based on "Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood", and will be set 300 years before the events of the beloved fantasy drama, focusing on the story of House Targaryen. Other characters featured in the series include Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Queen Alicent Hightower, Prince Daemon Targaryen and Aegon II Targaryen.

King Viserys, a kind and decent man, is chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. He wishes to carry forward his grandfather's legacy, but good men do not necessarily make for great kings.

Condal will serve as showrunner alongside "Game of Thrones" veteran Miguel Sapochnik, and he will also co-write the script with Sara Lee Hess. Sapochnik will direct the pilot and additional episodes.

"House of the Dragon" is expected to premiere in 2022.
