Madonna to Direct Her Biopic, Co-Written by Diablo Cody for Universal
Madonna will team up with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody ("Juno", "Jennifer's Body") and producer Amy Pascal for an untitled biopic about her life and career which is being set up at Universal. The iconic pop star will co-write with Cody and will also direct. Madonna and Cody have been teasing the news on Instagram.

The film will follow the star's rise from New York City's slums to the heights of global stardom. The production's timeline has not been decided, and no casting announcements have been made. Madonna and Pascal also worked together on the 1992 film "A League of Their Own".

Madonna said the following in a statement:
"I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer — a human being, trying to make her way in this world. The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me. It’s essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.".
Madonna's career spans almost four decades. She is the best-selling female music artist in history, with 335 million records worldwide, and highest-grossing solo touring artist of all time. She also directed two other films, the 2008 drama "Filth and Wisdom" and the 2011 historical romantic drama "W.E.". The latter brought her a Golden Globe win for Best Original Song. Her acting credits include "Desperately Seeking Susan", "Dick Tracy", and "Evita", which earned her a Golden Globe for Best Actress.
