Julianne Moore Joins DEAR EVAN HANSEN Film Adaptation
Julianne Moore is the latest addition to the star-studded ensemble cast of Universal's "Dear Evan Hansen" movie. The film is based on the Broadway stage musical of the same name, which tells the story of a high school senior with social anxiety, who gets caught up in a lie after the family of a classmate who died by suicide mistakes one of Hansen's letters for their son's suicide note.

Moore will play Hansen's mother, Heidi, who in the stage version opens the musical with a duet with the dead teen's mother, who in the film will be played by Amy Adams. The cast also includes Ben Platt, who who originated the role and won a Tony for it, Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Colton Ryan and Nik Dodani.

The screenplay is penned by Steven Levenson, who wrote the book for the stage musical, and Stephen Chbosky ("The Perks of Being a Wallflower") is set to direct. "The Greatest Showman" and La La Land" songwriters wrote the music and original lyrics for the musical and film.

Moore recently finished work on Joe Wright's crime drma "The Woman in the Window", which also stars Adams. She can next be seen in the upcoming Gloria Steinem biopic "The Glorias", and is also working on the upcoming Apple TV miniseries "Lisey's Story" based on Stephen King's 2006 novel of the same name.
