Gal Gadot to Play Cleopatra in Patty Jenkins Film

Gal Gadot to Play Cleopatra in Patty Jenkins Film
"Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins are set to reteam for the epic historical drama "Cleopatra" for Paramount Pictures. Jenkins will direct from a script by Laeta Kalogridis ("Shutter Island", "Alita: Battle Angel").

Paramount won the rights to the project in a heated battle with competitors such as Apple, Universal, Warner Bros. and Netflix. Jenkins will produce, along with Gadot's husband, Jaron Varsano, and Charles Roven.

There have been quite a few Cleopatra projects in the works in recent years, including a project at Sony that at various points was rumored to star Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga, but so far the Gal Gadot version is the only one moving forward.

Gadot teased the project via Twitter:
Gadot and Jenkins have also worked together on the sequel "Wonder Woman 1984", which is expected to open in theaters in December. Gadot can also be seen in Kenneth Branagh's "Death on the Nile".
