Benedict Cumberbatch Joins SPIDER-MAN 3 as Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch Joins SPIDER-MAN 3 as Doctor Strange
Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise the role of the Marvel superhero Doctor Strange in Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' new "Spider-Man" movie starring Tom Holland. Jon Watts, who also directed the previous two Spidey flicks, is back in the director's chair.

Apparently Cumberbatch will take on mentor role previously occupied by Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The new installment will also bring back Jamie Foxx as Electro. Foxx previously played the villain in the 2014 Sony film "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opposite Andrew Garfield as the web-slinging superhero.

Cumberbatch is also gearing up to film Marvel's Doctor Strange sequel "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness", with filming expected to begin in October in London. "Spider-Man 3" is also expected to begin filming this month, although in Atlanta.

"Spider-Man 3" will be released on December 17, 2021.
