Viggo Mortensen Boards Peter Farrelly Vietnam Dramedy

Viggo Mortensen Boards Peter Farrelly Vietnam Dramedy
Oscar nominated actor Viggo Mortensen is in talks to reunite with "Green Book" helmer/co-writer Peter Farrelly for a new dramedy set during the Vietnam war, which is based on Joanna Molloy and John "Chickie" Donohue's book "The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War".

The film will tell the true story of Donohue, who left New York in 1967 for Vietnam to track down and share a few beers with his childhood buddies then serving in the Army. The adaptation will be penned by Farrelly alongside "Green Book" co-writer Brian Currie and Pete Jones ("Hall Pass").

David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Andrew Muscato will serve as producers. The project is being overseen at Skydance by Granger, Goldberg and Aimee Rivera.

Mortensen recently directed, wrote and starred in the drama "Falling", which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The film's cast also includes Laura Linney, Lance Henriksen and Hannah Gross.
