THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Reboot Series in the Works at Amazon

Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Reboot Tv Series In The Works At Amazon

Amazon is developing a series centred on Lisbeth Salander, the character created by Stieg Larsson for his best-selling Millennium series of novels.

A collaborative effort between Amazon Studios, Left Bank Pictures, and Sony Pictures Television, the series is tentatively titled "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", and it will be standalone project featuring a new story, new setting and characters. It will not be a direct sequel or continuation of any previous books or movies.

At this point, no writing team or cast members have been attached to the series. Andy Harries ("Strike Back", "The Crown", "Outlander") will executive produce along with Rob Bullock ("The Night Manager", "Wild at Heart").

Lisbeth Salander is the protagonist of Larsson's award-winning Millennium trilogy. The character first appeared in the 2005 novel "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", and later in its sequels, "The Girl Who Played with Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest". After Larsson's death, David Lagercrantz took over and published the books "The Girl in the Spider's Web", "The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye", and "The Girl Who Lived Twice". The books have sold more than 100 million copies combined worldwide.

There have been, so far, five big screen adaptations featuring the character. The first three books were adapted into the 2009 Swedish-language trilogy starring Noomi Rapace as Salander. Two years later, David Fincher attempted an English-language trilogy, but never made it past the first book. The 2011 film starred Rooney Mara. Finally, in 2018, Lagercrantz's "The Girl in the Spider's Web" was adapted with Claire Foy in the lead role.
