Reese Witherspoon Joins Netflix Rom-Coms YOUR PLACE OR MINE and THE CACTUS

Reese Witherspoon Joins Netflix Rom-Coms YOUR PLACE OR MINE and THE CACTUS
Reese Witherspoon has signed a deal with Netflix to star in and produce two films, which will be her first collaboration with the streaming giant. Witherspoon has previously produced and starred in projects for Apple ("The Morning Show"), Hulu ("Little Fires Everywhere") and HBO ("Big Little Lies")

The first is "Your Place Or Mine", a romantic comedy directed by "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" scribe Aline Brosh McKenna in her feature directorial debut. The film will be produced by Witherspoon through her Hello Sunshine banner, alongside Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan through Aggregate Films. The story focuses on two long-distance best friends who change each other's lives when she decides to pursue a lifelong dream and he volunteers to keep an eye on her teenage son.

The second is an adaptation of Sarah Haywood's bestselling novel "The Cactus" that Witherspoon will produce with Lauren Neustadter. The romantic comedy is the story of a 45-year-old reserved woman whose unexpected pregnancy causes her to rethink and rearrange the life that she has created for herself.

Scott Stuber, head of Netflix Films, had this to say about the deal:
"We are thrilled to work alongside our long-standing partners and friends, Jason and Michael at Aggregate on Your Place or Mine. They brought us this brilliantly funny romantic comedy from Aline that we immediately fell in love with and can’t wait to work with the Aggregate and Hello Sunshine teams on bringing it to life. Reese and her team at Hello Sunshine have made a tremendous mark on the industry and we’re excited to have found two terrific projects to collaborate with them on.".
