Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt to Reteam for Superhero Movie BALL AND CHAIN

Emily Blunt Dwayne Johnson Reteam For Ball And Chain

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt starred together in Disney's "Jungle Cruise" , which was expected to open in theaters on July 30, 2021 but was pushed back to July 30, 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it seems that they enjoyed working together so much that they're reteaming for "Ball and Chain", a new movie from Oscar nominated "The Big Sick" co-writer Emily V. Gordon.

Netflix is in talks to pick up the high-profile project, which is an adaptation of the 1999 graphic novel of the same name by Scott Lobdell and Alé Garza. A version of the project was twice before in development as a series, the last time in 2010 at Syfy.

Gordon will pen the adaptation. The project has been described as "a superhero story meets 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'". The story centers on a couple with superpowers who are struggling in their marriage, and to make matters worse, their powers only work when they're together.

Johnson will produce under his Seven Bucks banner with Dany and Hiram Garcia. Blunt and longtime Johnson collaborator Kevin Misher ("Fighting With My Family") are also producing.

Johnson will next be seen in the Netflix action film "Red Notice" opposite Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds. He is also set to star in the DC movie "Black Adam".

Blunt stars in "A Quiet Place II", which was pushed back from March to September.
