Will Arnett ("Is This Thing On!", "The Morning Show") has signed on to star in the upcoming drama "Behemoth!" written and directed by Tony Gilroy ("Andor", "Michael Clayton", "The Bourne Identity"). Arnett is replacing David Harbour, who exited the Searchlight Pictures project for personal reasons. The cast also includes Pedro Pascal, Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Matthew Lillard, Margarita Levieva and Alexa Swinton.
The film started production in late October, but according to insider sources, the scenes involving Harbour that have to be reshot are minimal, given that at the time he was involved in the press tour for the Netflix series "Stranger Things", which recently concluded its decade-long run. His decision to leave the film comes soon after Harbour missed the "Stranger Things: The Final Season Celebration" at the Paley Center in New York City on December 18. Instead of moving directly into another major project, Harbour is reportedly stepping back to rest and recharge. The recasting is not expected to delay the production, and filming should still wrap in the coming weeks.
Although the film's plot is under wraps, it has been reported that it revolves around a cellist who returns to Los Angeles and has been described as a love letter to film music and the people who make it. Gilroy is directing from his own script and producing alongside Sanne Wohlenberg and John Gilroy. SVP Production Rayne Roberts and Creative Executive Cameron Chidsey are overseeing for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Heads of Production and Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
