Lars Eidinger To Star As Brainiac In James Gunn's SUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW

Lars Edinger To Star As Brainiac In Superman Man Of Tomorrow

German actor Lars Eidinger ("Jay Kelly", "Dead Language", "Dying") has signed on to star as the villainous Brainiac in the upcoming DC superhero movie "Superman: Man of Tomorrow" written and directed by James Gunn. The casting was confirmed by the filmmaker in an Instagram post: "In our worldwide search for Brainiac in 'Man of Tomorrow', Lars Eidinger rose to the top. Welcome to the DCU, Lars."

Created by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino in 1958, Brainiac is a hyperintelligent alien android with a tyrannical thirst for absolute knowledge of the universe, who shrinks entire planets and either collects them in glass jars or exterminates them outright. This will be the character's first first appearance in a DC movie.

David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will reprise their roles as Superman and Lex Luthor in "Man of Tomorrow". In September, Gunn announced that the "Superman" sequel will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027, and shared a photo of Lex Luthor and Superman that hinted at the two teaming up in the new installment.

Gunn's "Superman" was released on July 9, 2025 and grossed a total of $616.7 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing superhero film of 2025. With $354,1 million grossed in North America, it's currently the third film of 2025, behind "A Minecraft Movie" ($423.9 million) and "Lilo and Stitch" ($423.7 million).
