Matthew McConaughey and Zoe Saldana are in talks to star in the upcoming Netflix flick "Positano", which will be directed by Daniel Roher ("Navalny", "Tuner") from a script by Alessandro Tanaka ("Comrade Detective") and Brian Gatewood.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film has been described as a romantic caper set in the titular town located on the Amalfi Coast in the Province of Salerno, in the Campania region of Italy. Working Title founders Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan will produce. Amelia Granger executive produces for Working Title alongside Tanaka and Gatewood.
Working Title grabbed the spec script after Tanaka and Gatewood took it to market. Roher boarded the film as director shortly after, and in recent weeks the script attraced the attention of McConaughey and Saldana, who were immediately drawn to the story and entered negotiations to star. As soon as the two were attached to the project, Netflix landed the package with plans to fast-track it into production as soon as the contracts are signed
McConaughey recently starred in Paul Greengrass' acclaimed fact-based thriller "The Lost Bus". Saldana also stars in James Cameron's "Avatar: Fire and Ash", which is now in theaters.
