AJ Michalka ("The Goldbergs") and Alexander Ludwig ("Vikings") have joined the cast of the upcoming fourth season of HBO's Emmy-winnin series "The White Lotus". The new season will take place in France, and like previous seasons, it will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week.
Series creator Mike White described the new season as having a more urban setting: "I want to get a little bit out of the 'crashing waves against rocks' vernacular". No details have been revealed regarding the plot or Michalka and Ludwig's characters. Filming has not yet begun. It has also been reported that Helena Bonham Carter is in early talks for a starring role.
Michalka confirmed the news of her casting on Instagram with a caption that read: "Checking in! 🛎️ Let’s party Mike 🪷." Ludwig did the same on his Instagram page writing: "Beyond honored. Huge thank you to Mike for your trust in me and can’t wait to bring this unbelievable material to life. ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌.".
"The White Lotus" is executive produced by White, David Bernad and Mark Kamine. Season 4 is created, written, and directed by White. No premiere date has been set. Bernad previously teased the new season saying: "It is going to be relevant. I don’t want to say too much [other than] I know what it is and where it’s going, and it’s really exciting and I think people will be happy about the direction of season four"
