Weekend Box Office: ZOOTOPIA 2 Back On Top and Second Highest-Grossing Film of 2025

Weekend Box Office Zootopia 2 Second Highest Grossing Film Of 2025%281%29

With no major new releases, "Zootopia 2" and "Five Nights at Freddy's 2" battled it out for the top spot at the box office. As the horror sequel suffered a steep decline from its opening weekend, it was ultimately overtaken by Disney's animated sequel, which continues to perform extremely well. Meanwhile, the dramedy "Ella McCay" starring Emma Mackey and Jamie Lee Curtis, and the horror remake "Silent Night, Deadly Night" both flopped.

"Zootopia 2" made it back into first place with $25.8 million in its third weekend, down just 40.4%. The film has now grossed a total of $258.5 million in North America, and another $878.8 million from foreign markets. With $1.13 billion worldwide, the film is now the second highest-grossing release of 2025, behind only "Ne Zha 2", which banked $2.21 billion worldwide.

"Five Nights at Freddy's 2" dropped 69.7% in its second weekend and grossed $19.3 million, finishing in second place. Its domestic tally has reached $95.3 million, while overseas it adds another $78.1 million for a worldwide tally of $173.5 million.

"Wicked: For Good" is holding in third place with $8.5 million, although it suffered a pretty steep 50.7% drop in its fourth week. Domestically it grossed a total of $312.1 million, so far, while overseas it raked in $156.1 million. The global cume is now at $468.3 million, well below the first film's $758.7 million total.

The Indian spy action thriller "Dhurandhar" received a surprising boost over the weekend, climbing from #9 to #4 with $3.5 million over the 3-day frame. That's a 76.8% increase from its opening weekend. The film has now grossed $7.9 million in its US release.

The Top 5 is rounded out by "Now You See Me: Now You Don't" with $2.3 million, down 32.1% from the previous frame. The film has now grossed a total of $59.3 million domestically and $154 million domestically. That adds up to $213.3 million worldwide after five weeks in theaters, against a $90 million budget.

Disney's 20th Century Studio release of Oscar-winner James L. Brooks' new film "Ella McCay" tanked in seventh place with only $2 million from 2,500 theaters. The film cost around $35 million to produce. It received scathing reviews from critics (22% on Rotten Tomatoes), while moviegoers were slightly more forgiving ("B-" CinemaScore).
